Located between the cities of Niagara Falls and Toronto, Hamilton is one of Ontario’s major Great Lakes port cities. Hamilton is a highly industrialized region at the west end of Lake Ontario and is one of the country’s largest producers of steel. The city is 58 kilometres (36 mi) southwest of Toronto in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA). The city is home to McMaster University which is ranked 4th in Ontario and is well-known for its medical school.
